Why is everyone talking about Green Tea?

In the last few days every time I mention to someone that I am focusing on weight loss, they mention adding several cups of green tea to my diet.  I did a little research to find out about the green tea hype. Here is some of what I found.

  • Green tea has long been hailed in the East (particularly in China and Japan) for being helpful with aiding weight loss and weight management.
  • Green tea is known to increase the metabolism, and as a result, assist in weight loss. Green tea can raise the body's expenditure of energy (which measures the metabolism), and can also help with oxidation of fat.
  • Other benefits of a green tea diet include
    • Good oral health
    • Lower "bad" cholesterol
    • Prevent formation of blood clots
    • Reduce chance of getting high blood pressure
    • Decrease blood sugar levels

There are several ways to include Green Tea in your diet. Some ways include green tea leaves, tea bags and green tea iced-tea and green tea smoothies.

WEEK 1 - I GAINED

So, Week 1 did not quite go as planned. I weighed in yesterday and I GAINED 2lbs. I wasn't too shocked because my eating well and exercising went downhill as the week went on. I started off so well, logged all of my food etc. but as life took over during the week, Burger King (yes I said BK) and pizza came into the picture. I only exercised 2x's last week. AHHHHHH......The good news is that I did increase my water intake tremendously where my body is now craving it. Baby steps, baby steps. I'm back at it again this week.

Here's what get's me though....My BF is loosing weight. WTF..How? Since I have been trying to eat properly (most of the time) he gets to benefit from that, but he's not doing much else. He's plays video games in his free time and plays softball 1x a week. I think he LOST 4lbs last week alone. Its so annoying because if I can't finish a portion of my meal he will finish it for me.

Anywhoo, onto the next week. My goal this week is to loose 3lbs.  I start back work this week so its going to be challenging, but I'm up for it. Going to be counting calories and in the gym 5x's this week. Check back to see how I do.
